Comprehensive hearing screen

Hearing Check Details

Our hearing check is a focused ear examination and audiometric screening performed by trained staff to identify conductive or sensorineural changes. The appointment begins with an ear inspection to check for wax and visible issues, followed by a quiet-room or booth screening using calibrated equipment. The standard hearing check costs £20 and includes discussion of results and recommended next steps. If wax is detected and removal is required, we can carry out microsuction in the same visit for an additional charge, combining convenience with clinical care.

Why Choose Microsuction?

Microsuction is a preferred clinical technique for earwax removal because it uses gentle suction coupled with direct visualisation via an otoscope. This allows the practitioner to remove wax precisely and reduces the need for irrigation, which can be uncomfortable or unsuitable for some people. The procedure is typically quick and well tolerated, and it is appropriate for many patients including those who have had issues with syringing. At our clinic the hearing check is £20 and, if microsuction is required, an additional fee of £40 is applied. After removal we provide advice on prevention and any follow-up needed.

Ear Wax Removal Procedure

The microsuction procedure begins with a thorough ear examination using an otoscope to assess the wax and ear health. Under direct vision, a small suction probe is used to remove wax gently and incrementally until the canal is clear. The process is controlled and precise, reducing the risk associated with other methods. Most appointments take 15–30 minutes depending on quantity of wax. For your visit the hearing check is charged at £20 and, if removal is required, an additional £40 is added for the microsuction service during the same appointment.

Quick Overview

Our combined service gives you a quick hearing screen followed by microsuction if needed, reducing the need for repeat visits. The approach is clinic-standard, prioritising comfort and safety while delivering clear results and professional advice. Bring any questions and relevant medical history to ensure the best care.
Comfort-focused ear health

What to Expect

On arrival you'll be welcomed and asked about symptoms and ear history. The clinician will inspect the ear canal and drum; if wax is present and removal is appropriate, microsuction can be performed immediately after the £20 hearing check for an additional £40. The procedure is done sitting upright, and the clinician will explain each step. Most patients leave with immediate improvement in hearing or comfort and receive follow-up advice on ear hygiene and whether further assessment is recommended.

After Your Check

After the hearing check we will discuss findings and advise on next steps. If hearing is reduced due to wax, microsuction often restores clarity immediately. If the screening suggests a different cause for hearing loss we may recommend further audiology assessment or referral to ENT. Written advice on ear care and prevention will be provided, and we can schedule follow-up appointments if needed. All discussions include straightforward pricing and options so you can make an informed choice about care.
